 Marcin, the new gym has finally been inaugurated. Was this a big satisfaction for you?
Yes it’s really a very big satisfaction that our team finally changes the gym and I hope the new arena will be also very lucky for LOTOS PKO BP Gdynia. The new gym is wonderful, modern architecture object for 5.000 spectators and during official opening ceremony everybody was very satisfied and fascinated by this arena.
Were there big expectations from all the supporters?
We expect the new gym will be always full during all games of LOTOS PKO BP Gdynia, it will be a great conditions for the visitors, journalists and fans to watch the game from each sector of the arena. I hope the doping of few thousands fans will be very helpful to win the game by team from Gdynia. Everybody can also go to restaurant to buy something to drink or eat or visit our own shop to buy the souvenir of LOTOS PKO BP team. Moreover we have planned to arrange for supporters a lot of attraction and surprises
Isn’t it a little bit sad to leave the other gym after all the history the club has there?
Of course it is. We played in old gym in Gdynia 12-th seasons in Euroleague (since 1998) and 17-th season in Polish League (since 1993)- in this years we won 2 times Vice Champion of Euroleague and 9-th Polish Champion, so this arena was very successful! But the club didn’t farewell of old gym, because in my opinion, we will use the old gym for some practice or games in the future- it can be the situation if there will be organized for example any sport event, concert or big exhibition, so sometimes, if necessary, we will practice or play in old arena.
As you already told us, now you will try to host main competitions here?
At this moment we will organize of course the basketball games in Women Euroleague and Polish Championships and, as you know, in 2011 we will host the best national teams in Europe during Eurobasket Women. I’m sure in this arena we will host a lot of great events and competitions, especially for basketball.
When will the first official game in the new gym be?
The first official game in new gym we will play on the January 30-th (Friday)- it will be official sport opening ceremony of GDYNIA Sport Arena- this day our team LOTOS PKO BP Gdynia will play against FENERBAHCE ISTAMBUL in play-off of Euroleague.
