Anete, you will play with Connecticut next summer, has WNBA always been part of your dream, or your objectives? Playing in WNBA was my dream when I started playing as professional, because it was the best level. Now the level is very high in Russia as well but for me Americans are the best, they always win titles or medals in the Olympics or World Championship.
In your opinion, is there a big difference between Basketball in Europe and WNBA Basketball? What kind of experience do you expect? Much faster there, more physical. I also go there to have some changings in my game, to enjoy a different type of play. Also, when coach Thibaut (Connecticut head coach) came to Moscow he told me that Connecticut had the biggest crowd of WNBA, every game arenas are full and I've never played in front of so many people, it's gonna be exciting!
Connecticut is one of the best teams in the Eastern conference. What are your ambitions with them? I know that Connecticut always participates in play-offs and they are considered to be a safe bet in WNBA. Of course, I would like to win and to go as far as possible in the competition but we'll see. For the moment I have no idea about the level of all the different teams.
Next summer you will be fully involved in Basketball: with the Eurobasket in Latvia and your first participation in WNBA. And what about holidays? Sure I will have no break this summer because when the Eurobasket in Latvia finishes at the end of June I will have to go straight to Connecticut; and when the WNBA ends I will have to come back straight to Dynamo. But it's ok I'm excited about the life I'm going to live. We have a lot of fans in Latvia and I hope for the Eurobasket we'll show them our best level. I don't speak about medals for the moment, the competition is very hard, but we'll try to show our best level.
Thank you Anete and good luck
