"My plans are to play good basketball, be successful and enjoy it." |

Tereza, you went to play in Krasnoyarsk in Russia. Can you share your impressions about this trip? What was your experience in this really cold and far city? Did you enjoy it? First I have to say that it was a huge experience for me. Not only in terms of basketball but for my real life too. I guess nothing can surprise me now :-) I could see hard life over there. The team was professional but sometimes they didn't act like. But again it was probably my impression because I’ve never spend time in Russia before. Practices were twice per day 3,5-4 hours. We traveled by team bus to get to the gym and it took 1 hour too. So there wasn't a lot of time for rest. We didn't have any regeneration and first month when I got there we didn't have any day off either. It was probably the hardest for me. But another better side was I played the best league in Europe, I met a lot of good people and saw a couple of Russian cities that I really liked. We are friends with my translator still today and as for my neighbor, she showed me city and really nice nature around. I’ve never heard them to complain about their life. For the games we used an airplane but Krasnoyarsk was far away and there wasn't flights every day so we traveled by train too. The longest distance was 48 hours by train. Wow..it was funny and boring at the same time (laughing) . So, to be brief, I’m glad I could see the real life over there and I'm glad I have this experience.
What is your opinion about the Basketball level in Russia? I think the level of basketball is really high in Russia. There are a lot of players from WNBA and good European players who make the league more attractive and stronger. I like this kind of basketball because it’s fast and clever. I’m glad I could play this league and meet personally really good players because it’s another useful experience for me for my future career in basketball.
Now you are playing in Switzerland, how is the life there? Can you compare these two parts of your experience: Russia and Switzerland? I think I can't really compare these two countries (smiling). There's a big difference. Switzerland is such a nice country: bright, clean, having high standard of living! You can see that everywhere! People are more friendly and they speak minimally three languages so you feel here more comfortable. I can find here people of a lot of different cultures. I like traveling and I feel here as I’m in the whole world. One thing that I don't like here is...it’s really expensive here to live. But on the other hand, everything is working here ,everything has rules here and people follow that and are satisfied. I really like Switzerland!
What was the most surprising in Basketball when you arrived to Switzerland? The most surprising was the level of basketball. In this league there are a lot of foreign players. So the level is not that low as I expected. It is true that almost every team has minimally 2 or 3 foreign players and the rest of the team is not that good or young. So the style of playing is more individual here. I better prefer the team style but I had to adapt. And good surprising was refs here. They aren't that bad.
What are your next destination after? Do you already think about it? Can you share about your plans for the future career? Of course, I think about it. It’s my life so I have to and want to. I care about it. My nearest future is to finish my university in Prague this summer. I think education is really important. Basketball is of the same priority for me so I would like to go back to play FIBA Cup or Euroleague next year. I already used to but I was young. I think now I have more experience and I’m mentally stronger, which is always good for every player. So my plans for the future career are to play good basketball, be successful and enjoy it. |
